Anyone can be a Poshmark seller. Seriously, if you have access to a printer and a camera phone, you’re good to go. But not everyone will just magically turn their Poshmark into a business. You have to focus, spend some time on the app, and be consistent. There is one tip that will instantly take you from hobby seller to part-time Posher though. My top tip to becoming a successful Poshmark seller is to know why you’re selling. Once you do, everything else will fall into place.
It sounds crazy, I know. Trust me when I tell you that it’s true. You need to know why you want to sell on Poshmark. By all means, keep hobby selling if your reason for selling is that you just really like it. But if you want to become a more successful Poshmark seller, you’ve got to have a better reason than that.
With any great business, you need to know why you’re starting it. Figuring out why you want to be a part-time Poshmark seller is the mindset shift that you need to improve your sales and gain the consistency that you need. It sounds easy, but it definitely takes some time and reflection. If your reason isn’t good enough, you won’t be as successful as you want.
Ask yourself why do you want to sell on Poshmark. That’s the first step to becoming a successful Poshmark seller.
Like I said, it’s not always an easy question to answer. You might not know offhand why you want to sell on Poshmark. That’s okay. It’s probably because you’ve never had to put too much thought into it before. Even if you can think of an answer right away, it might not be your root answer.
For example, making money is probably the most appealing part of selling on Poshmark. That’s the reason that so many people are drawn to the free app. It costs nothing to sell on the platform, but you can make as much as you’d like. That’s not your “why” though. Your “why” is what you’ll do with that money — who it will help, how you’ll spend it. It’s about what you’ll gain from selling and what others will gain from you selling.
Start with what you feel when you’re making a sale. Do you feel excited? Why? Start there and work your way from there. If you’re still not sure of your why you can find my “3-level why” exercise in my Poshmark Success Guide. You’ll get a step-by-step guide to figuring out why you sell. The guide will also give you two more tips on becoming a successful Poshmark seller.
